How to Write Poetry Nobody Will Read:

1. Avoid, at all times, dying under enigmatic circumstances.

2. Maintain a low profile mundane existence.

3. House your writing on a free blog domain.

4. Don't submit to journals and share only on Facebook.

5. Tell people you've been writing since you were a teenager

 a. Watch them imagining that one kid at            their high school who also wrote poetry.

 b. Watch them as they lose interest but                tell you how cool it is anyway.

6. Make sure to not learn any instruments so you don't mistakenly write music, which people will be more drawn to.

7. Talk about how much you love your own writing.

8. Make sure you aren't Rupi Kaur.

9. Understand concepts like form, imagery, alliteration and the historical context of poetry as an art form.

10. Ignore all of it and write only free verse and BuzzFeed-esque lists.
