Sad Girl

dances alone in her kitchen

sipping peach coke from a glass bottle

She

sits on her porch

watching the rain charge her fortress

She

packs sandbags at the base

of the walls she builds

preparing for a flood,

Sad Girl

daydreams in the dark

learning the slow dance of the stars,

She

is always looking for the moon

it calls to her,

whispers secrets in her ear

Sad Girl

turns the music up louder,

and sings,

her audience only ghosts

mostly within her

She

comments that the evening

has a lot of perfect in it,

Sad Girl

is happy in her moments

snippet smiles with lingering laughter,

joyous in the snapshots,

polaroid perceptions

She

is Sad Girl.
